John Batson

John Batson is a Project Manager at Cornerstone Contracting, Inc. He has 23 years of construction management, engineering and field related experience in a vast variety of projects ranging from residential, commercial, private, public and industrial work. During his career he has worked with various high profile clients as well as many public agencies, including the City of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, General Services Administration and The Department of Veterans Affairs to name a few.
John developed a fascination with construction early on in life. As far back as high school, he enrolled in all of the drafting electives available to him as well as several construction related classes. He expanded on that base at Morrison Institute of Technology, earning an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Highway and Building Construction. His love of construction is still strong to this day and proves to be a positive influence in all of the projects he manages.
John is a veteran of the United States Army Reserve where he was enlisted as a Specialist, earning the National Defense Service (Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm) and Army Achievement Medals. He served his unit as a cannon crewmember and held a secret security clearance, helping his unit become nuclear capable and was a battery armorer.
John currently lives in the near western suburbs of Chicago with his wife Jackie and two beautiful daughters who he is a volunteer softball coach for, for the last 11 years. He is also Secretary of the Library Board of Trustees in his community and is active in other community events.
